Should be 1.5" 35 spline as far as I know, unless it was originally a gasser rear end.

I don't know about that. I know the my 93 and a friends 92 both have 32 spline axles in them. I have not had the opportunity to pull the axles out of any of my early 89-90 trucks and count splines.

Best way to tell is pull one and count.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

I was looking at a cutaway of an ARB, and it has spider gears. I'm through with spider gears. If I blow up a Detroit Locker I need to go to a Rockwell! My brother has a 2 1/2 ton that I could score one from!

go with the rock well if you can get on at a good price then go for it, there indistructable, theres only two down sides that you should now, first is the gear ratios, i think that theres only two available, and second there 300 pounds more the a dana 80, the weigh one is not to big of a deal, and you can send then to a offroad shop and get them to shorten then and put stronger nuckels and axel shafts in them
good luck!

You drive this on the street every day? I think I would roast a set of tires and axles in no time on the street with weld ups. I guess I could weld my broken one until I rob the bank for the Detroit Locker!

Its a top loading axle. You would have to lift your truck atleast 6 inches, probably more lol...

Get a 14-bolt 8)

it is actually not bad on the street i run boggers or geolander mt's and they wear fine some parkin lot situations will get some tire squeal but not all the time i have my front welded to make for some interesting fun with 4x4 launches. if it still ran lol

My spiders are probably splattered all over the housing. It's snowing so I lost my motivation to pull the cover...
Dude, you are hard core! I just couldn't do the welded spiders on the street. How the heck do you steer in 4x4 with a welded front diff????

Sometimes it gets difficult to steer, but our pumps are pretty beefy. My pump cuts in and out when I'm all locked up. And it screams bloody murder at me too haha.

well there isnt much turning involved in drag racin or sled pullin so the welded front does not mess with it the welded rear made the steering a little tighter but barely can tell. i have ran a welded or spooled rear in everything i have owned and have never had tire problems or broken axles from it

32 spline

Postby moab4x4 » Sun Feb 17, 2008 12:32 am

I read on Powertrax site that our D70s were supposed to have 35 splines, but when I pulled mine today, I have 32. It looks like my 93 W250 Dana rear is a Dana 70U with the 32 splines. BOM code on the tag 605509-1.
After pulling it apart, Detroit Locker will be going in ASAP.
Needs a speedy sleeve on a spindle too. :(
I already bought the wheel cylinders as I thought they were leaking.
