Rear drums

How do you remove a drum with the brakes hanging up? I don't know how it happened, but all of a sudden the left rear drum brake will not release like the parking cable is hanging, but I still can move the cable in and out by hand.

Dale:

It takes a very small screwdriver to push the self adjuster outwards towards the brake drum then turn the star wheel up to loosen up the brakes.

Dale, you have to get a bent screw driver (Or I use a bent tire plug tool) to get behind the adjuster. Just have to slide the screwdriver along and feel your way in the dark. Then hold it out while you adjust the starwheel looser with a second screwdriver. Then the drum should slide off.

Dale, grab the cable where it goes to the backing plate, and rotate it around, like a jump rope. If it's stuck there, it will usually release some. Good luck!

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

Dont try bendin a screwdriver without heat or you'll be down one screwdriver and have another punch, guess that could be good. You can just barelly get a small screwdriver on the lever to back the wheel off, but it worked. Cables were hung up inside drum, just did a complete brake job in the spring with new cables and thier already givin me problems. Dirt roads are hell on vehicles. Thanks for the info guys.

It's more likely moisture and installer error!
Did you put the plunger in? Does it work?
