What's the tallest tires or lift kit?

Postby eyoung429 » Thu Jan 04, 2007 2:46 pm

That I can fit on my '91 W350 Dually all the way around and still be able to haul a "decent" load with? Or can I buy a lift kit for this rig? I am 6'5" and this truck is shorter than my '97 F150 stock.

Thanks!

Unfortunately yes, unless there are some factory stock aluminum rims that will fit (doesn't matter if they are GM, FORD or Mopar just as long as they are not import crap).

235/85 R16 is the standard biggest on stock rims. You can go to a 255/80 R16 if you can find them in the tire and tread you want, but they will rub in between the duals when loaded. Both of these tires can be found in sizes of 31-31.5" tall.

Fords will fit but you may not be able to get them to stop bouncing.

Our wheels are not hub-centric or lug-centric. The owners manual says to get 2 tapered lug nuts and use them to center the wheels.

I have 235-85-16 firestone M/T which are 32" tall. That coupled with the 2" skyjacker lift springs has my truck pretty tall. I will get some measurements, door sill to ground, front fender to ground so we can compair.

39" from driveway slab to front fender lip
42" from driveway slab to rear fender lip
25" from slab to driver door sill plate

I guess I should have put on the 4" skyjacker front lift springs. The extra 2" would have nearly leveled the truck!

Going to 235/85-16s will give you about 2" more height over your 225/75-16. I cant believe a W350 of any sort would be shorter than a stock F150- those things were pretty low for a 4x4 werent they? But I wont call you a liar, it's just hard to imagine.

They are hard to find, but you can get 9.00 16s for the truck. Something like a 100 aspect ratio. Might make it a little unstable.

19.5s are another option.

Since I have single wheels (not dually) and want to stay with the 16" rims, what would be the tallest tire in inches that would fit without rubbing? '
33" 35"

I think the 285/75R16 BF Goodrich are about 32" but I would like to go a little taller....maybe 35, but dont want to do a lift. Thoughts?

eyoung you can run a set of 255/85/16 BF Goodrich's MT's for about 175 a tire..........34x10.50x16 Super Swamper LTB's for about 140 a tire...........34x9.00x16 Super Swamper TSL's for about 160 a tire...........32x9.00x16 Super Swamper TSL's for about 140 or the 10 plies for about 170............33x10.50x16 Super Swamper TSL Radial's for about 195 a tire.............265/80/16 Super Swamper TSL Radials for about 165 a tire............255/85/16 Super Swamper Truxxus MT's for about 145 a tire.............35x10.50x16 Super Swamper Bogger 10 ply's for 235 a tire.............38.5x11.00x16 Super Swamper Bogger's for 250 a tire.........

thats all the tires i could find right now that will fit, some might require spacers between the duals......personally i would go 6 inches and 38x11.00x16 Boggers.......

The dually I've got has 235/85s on it and towers over them with 2" of lift. A lot of guys around here are running 305s and even 315s on stock rims with spacers, but in my opinion, you get too much sidewall roll. I even worked on a superduty with 6 39x13.50x16 super swamper iroks on 16x6 aluminum rims. It drove horrible.
