Front Driveshaft Upgrade

Postby Ace » Wed May 14, 2008 11:35 am

New front shaft is on - WooHoo! No more worries about it coming apart anymore from being too weak (7260 joint - yuk!) or too short, after lifting. Got it rebuilt with a thicker, longer splined shaft and 1350 joint/yoke on the D60. The old stocker had about an ounce more weight in it and was badly out of balance before he took it apart. Cost $325 total, parts and labor.

Was it local to you, or one of the big names like Tom Woods? Eventually I'm gonna need to do the same thing.

Front Range Driveline

Postby Ace » Thu May 15, 2008 6:52 am

Local shop down in Englewood, south Denver. Great bunch of guys, own their own business doing all sorts of driveline work. Mostly racecar stuff, I think This is the 3rd shaft they have built for me and all have been perfect. I've seen reports of things like bad welds and wrong measurements from some other area driveline shops, but never any issues with these guys that I am aware of.

Yep. They said it was an odd size like 1330 or something, but plenty strong enough for my application. It was in good shape anyway, with only about 80k miles on it, so it didn't get touched.
