Not worth it..

Mine came with one and I just threw it away and bought an aftermarket one from Jegs.. new one works awesome..

original one = spent over $150 on parts trying to get it to work and never did..just do nto mess with it and get an aftermarket one..

you will save yourself a lot of money in the long run..Trust Me

Hmm, since its not worth it, makes me feel better my truck came with it and I didn't have to pay extra for it.

I mean WTH ? if it was a dash fit that would be one thing, but to pay that kind of money for one that mounts on top the dash is kinda nutty. If yours had it when you bought it or you found a lucky $50 find thats great too.
bruiser which one did you buy and what does it use for pick up. Alternator? thanx ,crossy

Contrary to the popular opinion of this thread, I really like my factory tach. that I installed on my truck. It took me a whole 45 min. to install & works flawlessly. Bruiser, throw that junk factory tach. my way I'll recycle it! :)

I used an Autometer that runs off the Alternator for my Tach..

the stock one got recycled to another 1st gen for him to try.. so far no luck :)

I'm sure they work and look great, but why pay so much for one when an Autometer unit costs $50 less?

I kind of think that the people who buy the factory tachs aren't fully aware of the existence of the alternator-tach that so many of us run...

I agree to an extent. My truck came with a tach in it. If/when I get another ctd to replace it, the tach will come out before I get rid of it. I do really like the matching gauge face though.
