gooseneck hitch

Postby 79man » Mon Sep 22, 2008 8:07 pm

I would like to put a turn over, bolt-in gooseneck hitch in my 91 W250, but all of the manufacturers I've found have discontinued their hitches for my truck.

I realize I could have one welded in, but would prefer a bolt-in.

What are you guys running? Is there a bolt-in model that I can make work?

I have looked on e-bay, and if my 1st-gen comes thru, I am buying a B&W Turnover ball. Bolts on, turnover (duh) model 1300. I asked and they knew what it was. I knew the p/n beforehand, but they responded with the p/n without me asking for it. So that seller, at least looked into what I asked for.

I have had excellent luck with the draw tite brand of gooseneck hitches. I have had a few B&W crack and a goosneck brand hitch crack, also the balls seem to be tighter in them for less slop in the trailer. You should be able to make the 94-02 hitch fit just fine since the trucks frame rails are the same width. I have always had to drill holes in the frame anyways so that isn't a big deal to me. I would contact their tech support too and see if they might make you some custom mounts. I am sure they still have the patterns for the hitches they made back then and could whip some out pretty quick since their design just uses flat plates for rail adapters.

My pickup came with a goosneck setup in the bed. The ball flips up 90* from where it's stored and it appears to be a bolt-in unit. I'll have to check for brand markings/part #..............
