W250 Brake Upgrades

Postby doublel89 » Sun Nov 30, 2008 1:13 pm

It's about time to go through my brakes again and i was wondering if some aftermarket outfits like Wilwood or those type offer any upgraded parts such as rotors or calipers. any advice on 'good brake parts' would be appreciated too, thanks.

i know i will be replacing my rotors, last time the pads were worn down to metal on metal resulting in some real nice grooves on one of the rotors. after this set of pads i am sure they will be unuseable.

I run Wagner or Performance Friction pads and shoes. Get the rotors from the lcal parrts stores.

I can normally get 50K from a set of fronts if I tow a lot; 80K if not. Double that for rears. I've never had a vehicle long enough to put rears on twice.

Your rear brakes haven't been working good then. Mine have 75K on them. I am down to about 30% of the shoes left.

Philip, you're probably right. My point was, the rears will normally outlast the fronts, even when the RWAL is bypassed, and the brakes stay adjusted. I have the brake system working right on this truck, so I'll see the ratio of front to rear brake life.
