vibration at 40

Postby GO OVRIT » Sun Jan 25, 2009 7:40 pm

Both my 92 and my first 93 have always had a slight vibration from around 40 to 45mph. I've had 6 different sets of tires on each, so I don't think its in the tires. I've replaced u-joints in both trucks, the carrier bearing in the 92, and tie rod ends in both. Both trucks are tight. Both are lifted. I never noticed the 40mph vibration in my 93 dually. Anybody found an off-the-wall reason for a slight speed related vibration?

You said both trucks with the vibration are lifted? If so it could be drive line related. It doesn't take much to get them at the wrong angle.

i agree with gear jammer. you could check your pinion angles and make sure there good and adjust accordingly with wedge shims and what not.

I've got the PitBulls on now, and they ride better than the bfg all terrains.

My 93 was off a little, but then angle on the 92 is good. The vibration is not that bad(I've been living with it for over 5 years), but I would like to get rid of it. Its enough that when I have to stay at 40 or so the rattles all come out to annoy me.

i would say to just check the angle of the u-joint at the axle and at the trans and make sure there the same. if not just shim accordingly.
