rear diff angle

Postby Mad Max » Sun Feb 22, 2009 8:07 am

Fellas - what do you think of my rear diff angle?

Image

I've got it overfilled by ~1.5 quarts to get fluid up to the front bearing, and while I can't confirm it is getting oil I'd like to get your opinion.
I also have no choice on the angle - it has to be this steep in order to aleviate vibration. There is a big CV joint on the other end coming from the t-case, and I have zero vibration - none at all. So my angle is good but I'm trying to determine if the front bearing is doomed?
If it is, what can I do to get fluid up there? External lube port from the back? I can do that....

Thanks,
- Sam[/img]

Depending on your highway driving, I would say it won't be long... Its like like you are dead even... I always set them up with like 2-3* down in relation to the driveshaft angle.... So I think you could afford to drop it a little... When your under acceleration now, I bet your pinion angle is actually inverted....

On our race cars we had a remote reservoir and filled the rears full, it would allow fluid to flow in and out of the rear as needed.

We did this because the wide 5 hubs would fill with oil as we went around the corner. But it also allowed the fluid some place to go as it heated and expanded. But I also think you could drop it down a ways.
