Looks like you got it pretty straight. If you want to make sure its straight, mist on a dark color out of a spray can and block sand it one more time. If you have any low spots then you'll have speckles showing. Make sure you sand that primer with whatever grit the paint recomends and then wipe it down with grease and wax remover. Some tack rags would be a good idea too. Good luck.

If you do use any kind of rattle can to shoot a contrasting color on there for a final block sanding make sure it is compatable with lacquer... Or you can have problems with paint lifting etc. This system is very easy to use, color sanding, buffing etc repairs to areas anywhere on the truck, sand em out repaint, buff and clear coat. Very cool Joel, looks like you got it down.

I have to agree with the previous on the tack rags etc. Even your skin oils can cause major hassles if you don't have the surface clean. That's why you see umpteen bazillion different solvent cleaners etc for automotive finish systems... A tack rag and final wipe the recommended cleaner, then shoot you whatever on.

this primmer is great it drys in 20 mins so you can do a second coat almost right away.

i hope to prime it once more and then paint, ill update tomorrow

Make sure you are following the recommendations for number of coats etc. and good dry times. Maybe even call the tech line if the directions are unclear etc. Check if humidity etc plays into drying/curing. One issue you can have with lacquer is "lifting", it's a paint, the carrier of the paint is a solvent, when the solvent evaporates you have your leftover finish. If you multiple coat before your carrier evaporates you can have "lifting" caused by evaporation from underneath.

well i finished today. the truck looks okay, im to not happy with the color but it will have to do. I wish it was a darked red.

But i wet sand the whole truck, then i painted two coats a bout a hour drying in between.

and i got the clear coats on on light then a heave and then another medium coat.

Much better then before. You have a little work ahead of you putting all the stuff back on. I finished my 40 chevy paint job at midnight and took till 6am putting all the stuff on. Had it at a car show by 9 am. Was a lil tacky still sittin in the sun. Have fun. 8)

Nice Joel! The color looks like the early 70's red, had an orange tint to it.

Get some more pics. You don't like the 70's reddish orange?

Now you need a big 01 on the door and a rebel flag on the roof.
Looks good especialy for a beginer. I've spayed a bunch of cars and trucks and not all of them turned out good. So your good to bad ratio is better than mine so far.

Have you been talking to my dad or my friends, everyone that has seen since i painted it has said the same thing!

But its dried nicely and i started to buff to day and its looking really nice. I almost have the truck back together and the new front window should be in any day now. Ill take picks when its done.
