what rim

Postby T.winegar » Fri Mar 06, 2009 8:05 pm

what rim will fill out 285 or wider tires the best?? i'm looking to get a more beefy tire and possibly some rims.

i know i can get 285/75/16 toyos and it will look fine, but i have heard of guys using a 16.5in rim and filling out the tire a bit nicer.

ideas?? and best place to get some decent used rims?

A 16x8 wheel is about as wide as you want to go with a 285. 16.5 inch sizes are on the endangered species list. Tire manufacturers have been dropping tires for that size rim for a few years now. Really the only crowd that still buys them are the offroad crowd. They have no safty bead, so they can come unseated at low psi or extreme side pressure.
