New and Old, Oilburner and Gaspot Chassis'

I was told that there was a difference in frames between the Older trucks, like my 84 W350, to the 89-93 Diesel-engined trucks.

Is My frame considerably weaker than the newer ones? What cross members are different, other than the Engine and Possibly transmission?

The only diff is some of the 1 ton's as well as the 92 and 93's. My 89 has the smaller frame and my 93 has the big boy. I think you could drop in a cummins with a donor rig for parts real easy.

So, if I was to shoehorn a diesel into my truck, I'd have to be making some serious power before it would start to cause damage?

Should be fine. You could bend stuff if you started getting rough but that goes without saying.

i once had a 83 W350 crew cab with a cummins in it. i could feel it flex, and i didnt abuse it offroad at all. i think i would rather stick your body on a 92-93 ex-cab big frame. in fact, thats what i wanna do to my D350, assuming i can find an affordable cab.

The Ext.Cab long box trucks were the same length as Crew Cab shortboxes?
