Swapping auto for 5 speed - cab issue???

Postby Diesel Nut » Sun Apr 19, 2009 10:51 am

Since I know several of you have done this swap, can you answer this - is there a difference in the floor boards between auto and stick trucks? I have a line on a good deal on a getrag for the 91.5 parts runner and want to put it in, but I have heard something on the floor boards is different. Ideas?

If it is a 2 wheel peel auto then the cab will have a smaller hump. All 4wheel peel trucks had the same bigger hump like the 2wheeler's with the rag. You would think they would have stuck with on tool in the assembly line instead of 2 different sizes.

yes, its a 2wd. So, the smaller hump, will it cause issues with fitting the 5 speed?

Yes but you can cut the humps out and swap.

I can tell you that the smaller hump won't clear the trans. I swapped humps when I did my cab swap. Not that bad of a deal. Cut the donor cab hole small, and the large hump oversize. Then you can trim the 2 to fit.

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.
