I used gloss black engine enamel, and I am very happy with the results. No primer, just a little sanding.
Sold 91 now-intercooled W250, 388WHP 923WTQ on #2 only 423WHP 968WTQ on meth 0% correction.

Try dupli-colour wheel paint. Formulated for steel, plasic and aluminum. Graphite, alum and black colours. Seems pretty durable. They also sell the matching clearcoat. Seems to be Canadian Tires house brand of auto paint.
