$500 is high side, IMO.

They can kind of runaway in price, especially a later loaded model with discs and limited slip.

$800 sounds high for a used open differential and drums, but one in good shape with discs and LSD can go for well over $1,000.

If it is ready to go, I'd say get it. Disc brakes dont impress me much, so it's not a real selling point. I paid $500 for mine (now in Rumblefish's truck), and had to go to Iowa to get it, and thought I was getting a good deal. It was a 99 drum with 3.54s.
