I was curious if anyone has done this swap in a 89-90 truck? All the threads ive found here and othe sites are all on I/C trucks with the late model grille. Ive been giving some thought to doing it but its going to take some major clearance to make it work it appears.

It has been said the 2nd gen intercooler fits a bit better on the earlier models.

True but with the ac condenser there is only like 1-2" between the back of the grille and the condenser.

You have yo do some trimming/sanding on the back of the grille.

Have you done this? Just trying to make up my mind to swap to late model grille or fix what I have to work. Just don't want it to look like poo.

Not yet but I know a few on here run the old style grille and intercooler. I'm pretty sure Caleb runs the 2nd gen cooler.

I run the 2nd gen cooler on mine, with the newer style grill of course..... yea... go with the older style. I can't fit anything but the intercooler.
