buildin a bumper

Postby 93oneton » Wed Dec 26, 2012 10:25 pm

Started designin a bumper a few weeks ago. Couldnt find one i really liked so figured why not build one. Built a cardboard model first, then plasma cut everything out of 3/16 sheet steel. Finally got around to start puttin all the pieces together today. Ran out of gas before i could get it all tacked together. Hers what i got done

Bumper looks good. How about some info and pics of the truck on the background.

Look forward to seeing the finished product on the bumper looking good so far. I like the heavy Chevy too.

I would add a nice grille guard in the center but that's just me. I think it looks good.

^this. I've never seen a bumper with a level hanging off the bottom, but to each their own!

Ya i thought it was classy! The new bumper is slid over the original one in that pic. The level was just so i didnt have to hang on to it

Bumper looks good. Biggest thing I notice on custom bumper builds, it's too close to the body, or appears to be. Most look like they're an inch away, and if you hit something, there goes the fenders anyways. Isn't that what the bumper is for? To save the body? ;)

Thanks. In the pics its slid over the stock bumper. It really isnt any closer then the stock one. It will sit down from the grill an inch or so when it really mounted. Hope to get mounts built by next week!
