I ended up replacing the stock tps with one for a caravan as shown in this link and it works like a charm and will be like $25 to fix should it ever fail.

I cut open the factory tps afterward and it's no wonder they fail so easily, they have a weak looking carbon film track that wears through to the copper underneath, then when the wiper hits the bare spot it shorts half of the carbon track and makes the computer think you are giving it full throttle then tell the tranny to kick out of od.
