Custom made FSS Steel plungers

Postby TRACTJDS0428 » Sun Aug 17, 2014 11:15 am

Im building Steel FSS plungers for anyone intersted. Common problem with VE trucks is blowing the tip of the FSS plunger apart and the truck not shutting off. I built my first one for my personal truck because my wife couldnt pull on my shut off cable hard enough to kill my truck  . Took the rubber off and welded the tip. Then chuck it up in a lathe and turn it down to .001 below the specs of the rubber tip. Ive built three more and they all perform exactly as the rubber tip plunger. I have video and pics if anyone would like to see.

Look like they would do the job, only thing I would worry about is if the steel plunger would eventually wear the aluminum housing. With that said I'm sort of surprised that someone hasn't tried making replacement out of nylon or teflon.

The steel plunger would hit steel, not aluminum.

I would love to buy one of these off you. I don't have the PM privilege yet, but let me know how much or if there is something on my parts truck you want to trade for.
