I make exhaust systems regular like, for the fleet of buses. When I made my 4inch DP, it took some time. Yesteday I finished up a 3.5 inch DP with out the truck on hand, so I used the original broken DP and it turned out fine. I'd have to say the 3.5 inch looks better when installed on our trucks.. The four inch pipe I made and installed looks like a three year old wearing size 12 shoes. A turbo with four inch outlet would be more appropriate looking/application. Not one with 2.75 inch outlet.

I'll try and post a pic of the 16cm2 Onan housing with the bolt on exhaust adapter. I have a sweet straight to 4" adapter on it. We'll see if the Puter challenged kid can get you a pic...

I made my pipe, the weld where you can see it is nasty. Of course, the one down underneath is perfect! I'll see if I can get some pics. When I got done, I realized that I had an extra inch to play with. It would have made it look nicer on the bend.
It only took me about an hour, from turbo to back of cab. I did steal the chopsaw from work though! :)

I don't care what size shoes he wears, as long as he's a fast mothertrucker!
It's nice if it looks pretty, but function 1st, form 2nd. We were still talkin' trucks, right?

I dont have plans to make my own 4" DP (dont have equipment) but when I order one, i can either have it sent to me with an adapter on it, or order one from another company? I am kinda confused, but I am planning on doing this sooner than later so it'd be good to know.

Just installed one with a HX40 flange for my HTB2, fits tight, but doesn't hit anything. Had to trim 5/8" off it to make it fit a little better.

This is sort of an old thread, but I recently built my own down-pipe. While driving home last week, my truck suddenly got louder. Turns out the down pipe broke at the 90* bend just after the turbo. The truck already had a nice mandrel bent 4" system that started under the firewall, so this was a good excuse to go 4" all the way. I bought a short radius 90, a long radius 90, a 45 pipe section, and a clamp from the local truck shop. Cost about $70. I cut out the 3x4" reducer under the cab, and used it at the turbo outlet. Worked out pretty good.

Jeremy, that looks good!
to me that looks ridiculously easy, well, at least way less work than I figured it'd be. I haven't climbed around the exhaust side of my truck a whole lot, yet.
but I do fabricate 3" stainless plumbing for the spray systems on these ag aircraft, so that downpipe doesn't look like much work at all. add one more thing to the list of NECESSARY mods for my truck!
