Ah, ok. Just trying to save you an unneeded trip. ;)

For future reference, that would be a new used gearcase.

the engine in my 89 is a recon engine from cummins bought and put in about 5 years ago...its cummins industrial sand color and it come with the pump turned up a bit more than the dodge cummins ones are...would my engine still have the KDP? Or is this something that since it's newer it's not as likely to happen? Should I be worried about this? My engine supposedly only had about 20k miles on it since when I bought it like 4 months ago. I've prolly put about 5-6k miles on it doing my long commutes.

4x4 american... yes, kdp is still there, better fix it.

I always just wack the pin back in and "peen" the hole, takes about 30 seconds

While we had our 12v commercial engine front end apart, at work the kdp moved, with only 38,000 hours LOL

here's the way i made my KDP fix, probably the cheapest way, don't know it it's the best, but at least i think it will keep that pin from falling out.. viewtopic.php?f=1&t=14716&start=15#p133661

Great write up, shopping for a 12v right now and this will be first on my list with general preventative maintenance!
