I recieved mine from PDR. It's a SFI unit. I still have the part number. It was 150.00. You can order the Cummins brand part from reliablegoods for like 75.00

If you want one that will never break regardless of power for competition type use you can go with the ATS billet flexplate. I helped on the design and clearance of that plate and it is a sweet piece. There is nothing else like it out there, it is basically a flywheel for a torque converter. :D

The folks at ATS told me the billet model will not fit my '93. It's too tall in profile compared to the OEM. If I understood correctly, it's related to the differences in the lock-up/non-lock-up converters. :?:

The bIllet is a VERY tight fit on the 2nd gens, so maybe it wont fit the old non lockup TC??? I dont see why it wouldnt though cuz if a 2nd stocker will work, why wouldnt the aftermarket?? The only thing I can think of is the stamping of the OEM converter must have interference. I am not an auto guy myself so I would just have to take their experienced word for it that it wont work, maybe someday when I have one out I'll try it for myself and see. :)

1ST GENS USE DIFF BLOCK TO TRANS ADAPTOR(THINNER) MUST BE CLOSER INSIDE. ARE THE TOOTH COUNT THE SAME?

Its thinner, yes, about an 1" thinner than a 2nd adaptor, but thats because there is no lockup clutches in the converter to make it thicker. Tooth count is the same and the clearance inside is close to start with.
I'll look at my non-lockup converter, maybe KTA is onto something with the stamping interference.

Thats not a leak, its the external lubrication system.

Didnt ATS also say their 12v manifolds wont work on a 1stGen? Might not hurt to get a second opinion. Of course, it also depends on who you talk to on the phone- a real technician, or just a sales person.

Pulling buddy of mine, 518 non lockup, has a ATS flexplate in hand, says it will not work. I think he said it wouldn't clear the convertor :?: . I can't remember. Not sure what route he should go with, some SFI unit or the 2nd gen Cummins flexplate? Built engine, 800hp  :!:  ...

If you are going to pull 800hp you better get a lockup tranny or your pissing in the wind.

"Oh but the gassers been running 727's for years with no lockup".... That's what he says.. or wants to believe the 518 will work. He's looking for a 47rh or nv4500.. no luck. Probly the only reason he hasn't pooped it out on the track is he hasn't made much HP yet with all that HOT air, non-intercooled style. Ag gov p-pump, Jim Jessup specials   (370's), and Pro52. He's got a s400 on the way from his pump guy in Southern Indiana and still not sure about injectors. Nice side track there.

You can't break it if you cant put any power through it. 8)
