Was it only the 89's that had the chrysler style alt? Does not all the rest have the nippo unit?

I think 89 was a 'Denso with a Chrysler part number tag. Apparently this must be some small difference between the newer ones.
As additional info the 94 Cummins also has the same interchange numbers.

Not sure. I know my 93 alt is a nippo and my 89 is the delco shaped chrysler unit. My 89 FSM has the nippo listed as 5233599 and the chrysler unit is 5233199. I remember when I did the alt a few years ago on my other 89 they asked if it was a nippodenso or chrysler.
