Jon, I already got a 241 swap in the works. Jeff on the other hand would have to regear again if he were to swap cases.

I don't even need mine for day to day operations and I still won't hook them up. I beat my trucks, but pulling is just to hard on stuff. I didn't even drag race last year for fear of busting stuff. May not this year for the same reason.

Andy forgot to mention there are 3 different 271/273's in the garage, I will regear and swap t-cases later this year. I'm just ironing out the setup on the chassis before I reach for the 610cc p7100 and 5x20's, so the 205 needs to tough it out a just little longer. Damn monster ve's anyway, now they're tearing up np205's :P

I'm of the opinion that the rear damage is a result of the front damage.
It's going to take a lot more than a tossed driveshaft CV to annihilate that 205.

You were rolling with a POTENTIAL of more than 300 feet on that pull when it kicked over on you.

Pretty amazing how they can be rolling on like thunder, then BANG, and it all stops moving.

Yep you're right on Mark, when something lets go in the driveline all the torque immediately shoots to the remaining components. The front shaft tore off at the CV then the rear output saw an instant 200% increase in torque, the helical cut of the low gear thrusts on the rear bearing which is held by that seal retainer. When the shaft pushes out it unlocks the rear output from the sliding sleeve for low range and theres no go.

It was a $500 pass, but on the other hand, it sure ran hard.

"it was a 500 dollar pass"

...that does not sound bad, its all the time spent putting it back together that is the worst.

no internal damage to the 205 when that rear yoke pushed south?

Stupid rookie question, but whats the difference between a Light, Heavy, and Open hook?

Apparently we don't have sled pulls in the godless north for me to watch

I think those are classes.
I might be wrong, though. :D
Wouldn't be the first time.

Light is usually 75 or 7700lb class, Heavy is usually 8300 or 8500, Open is just that run anything you want, and I mean ANYTHING.

The truck is back together and ran again Sunday. I tried what I was working on at Tecumseh 2 weeks ago when it scattered parts on the track. It worked this time I successfully pulled off 2, loud pedal on the wood, full boost launches, hello diesel tower we have ground speed. Don't try this stuff at home with your southbend con-fe. Turn up the sound and enjoy the sound of a VE doing the impossible. Thanks to Pulltilbroke and Dan for the video.

FWIW the track was biting and the two trucks in front of me scattered in the light class, one was a hard running second gen which apparently stripped the teeth off of the 80 rear.

Looks good. Like to see that truck run out here on our sticky horse power tracks.
