Sweet! 4-wheel drive burnouts are way better than a 10 sec timeslip IMO. 8)

On the plus side, your tires being your next weak point in the drivetrain should keep everything together.

Perhaps a 4-wheel spin would be nice, but my mess chooses to shudder violently. I'll break something if I stay on it I'm sure.

Dave, fwiw, I have heard of guys breaking more trans/driveline parts with regular street tires than with slicks. Maybe invest in some of those and launch harder.

Something about a drag tire giving up a bit more than a street tire. :?

BC, on my truck the front axle goes wild during my, admittedly hard, launches. It will actually walk forward, with one tire pulling ahead of the other back and forth until the rest of the truck finds traction. I am going to run a single bar to the rear when I get around to it, but I think I'm going to need one going to each side of the front...

On the tire/breakage thing, I figure that has more to do with the fact that if someone is willing to throw out the $$ for slicks they've probably already spent a ridiculous amount on the drivetrain. The budget guys are the ones trying to make street tires perform like slicks and they're the ones that may have skipped a billet shaft on the bild to save some $$.

It's the shock loading of street tires not getting traction on and off that breaks parts. It's much easier on parts running slicks and hooking fast. We use to break axles in my uncles Chevelle running street tires while doing a little street racing & at the track. We switched to DOT Drag radials and never broke another one in the year we raced it.

Gonna swap a new steel 188/220 cam for the current 181/210 one of these days soon.

That is Fayetteville. 8)

When it doesn't shudder like that, the truck wants to turn to the left. I think it's the front/left wheel getting light on launch allow it to slip a little more than the others, thus turning the truck to the left.
You can see it pretty good in this vid. As in the others, I'm turning the wheel to the right to counter it . . . .
