9000lbs stock diesel

Postby dgosney » Tue Jul 31, 2012 3:02 pm

Hey guys there is a pull in marshall MO saturday and they have a 9000lb class. I wanted to ask you guys if I should put 2000lbs in the bed or just run stock weight. Im kinda worried about that much extra weight, seems like it would be that much more prone to breaking something.

I consistently run stock as I am not setup to prevent axle wrap. I weigh in 6100-6200 lbs with a 1/4 tank. I have pulled about 7 times and haven't broke anything yet.

At a 9k lbs class, if they allow it and you want to weigh in at the weight, put 1000 lbs out in front.

We cant hang weights on the front, we can only put them in the bed. As far as the fun part goes ive been having fun but it would be more fun to win lol

In the bed, in the cab under the seats, under the air filter, under the battery tray... There are ways to put weight more towards the front and not have hanging weight.

There was talk over in this part of the country about a 9000lb class a few years back. It pretty much got shot down in flames, a few crew cab ford guys were crying they couldn't drop down to 8500. Turns out they were too lazy to empty the sh-- out of the truck, thus the class isn't needed. Can't believe it really exists somewhere.

9000lbs is an open class weight, since you're up against tractors, semis, and whatever else runs hard.

FWIW, I would need 2300lbs of iron on the puller to hit 9000lbs and that would put me 200lbs under the max load rating of my gooseneck trailer. That will also probably put you over the 4500lb weight rating of a dana 60, so be careful.
