Who's racing this year?

Postby BC847 » Sun Feb 10, 2013 8:20 pm

I'm waiting on the local track to open with good weather so as to verify some IP mods.

Then surprise a few new racers. ;)

Hoping to have a consistent high-7 in the 8th @ 250'.

How about you . . . . .

I want to hit up the local 1/8 mile this year. Would like to beat my dads best with his challenger a 8.0. I'll probably be high 8s or low 9s though. lol. New motor has 700 miles on it. Lift pump is only putting out 8 psi and sucks down to 0 with half throttle. Really feels gutless. Need to do some more tuning too though. According to my phone my old motor ran 8.96 at 78.5 mph. New one ran 9.64 at 72 :x

Welllll.... Maybe.

I spend the month of July 3/4 of the way to the closest drag strip due to work so I may just have to. 1/4 mile too. I don't know a thing about it, but I may see what the Dodge can do. Most likely epic disappoint like the looming dyno day

im going, hoping for the 12 sec range. adusted the trans line pressure, bands, and i finally got the W/M working. hoping, with a 50/50 mix of W/M, and learning how its going to shift now, ill be in the high or maybe even mid 12's. gonna try and shed as much weight as i can. i was at 5860 or 5760 last year when i ran a 13.46 at 101.

Hoping to break into the 13.s this year. Track is already open, just had some rule changes though, and I need a jacket. Just waiting on some money.

im glad you brought up rules, i gotta find a helmet. it used to be anything 12.99 and under required the driver to wear a helmet, now its 13.99 and under  i hate wearing helmets. makes me all claustrophobic.

I got hit with a stick dirt bike riding as a kid. So I wear corrective lenses. Its a pita with a helmet on. Here at sacraceway they want you to wear a jacket with a turbocharged vehicle of any kind, and speed. Totally sucks. Not cool for guys like me who do this as a small hobby on the side. Even though it's my main hobby.

I think 75$ at the cheapest. Which isn't bad. But still a little of a inconvenience.

What rule are they citing? IIRC, NHRA's rule book says if it came equipped with the turbo, and if the turbo is unmodified, and the turbo is stock, you are not required to have a jacket. Just went through this with Route 66 crew.

Edit:

PROTECTIVE CLOTHING
Full-length pants; short- or long-sleeved shirt; closed shoes; and
socks. No shorts. No tank tops. No open-toe or open-heel shoes or
sandals. Synthetic clothing not recommended.
10.00 (*6.40) to 13.99 (*8.59); all E.T. non-OEM supercharged,
non-OEM turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars with an OEM or
.024-inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory.
10.00 (*6.40) to 13.99 (*8.59); all E.T. supercharged,
turbocharged, or nitrous-equipped cars without a full OEM or
.024-inch steel firewall:
Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/5 and
gloves meeting SFI Spec 3.3/1 mandatory
10.00 (*6.40) to 11.49 (*7.35); all E.T. naturally aspirated, OEM
supercharged, or OEM turbocharged with a full OEM or .024-
inch steel firewall: Jacket meeting SFI Spec 3.2A/1 mandatory

So unless you are going quicker than 11.49 or don't have a OEM/.024" firewall, you need a fire jacket.
