New times, first few passes with the Detroit Locker, Pro52 charger and afc lever removed. Traction is an issue  , along with a driver that still doesn't know how to launch and leave on the last yellow etc  . Made 4 pyro pegged and 60psi boost gauge pegged passes and no broken parts, headgasket intact, drove it home :D .

I would have to agree. I remember making my one and only pass in a buddys 73' Challenger with a 14.4 1/4 mile time. And he had a ton of money in that thing to get it to go that fast...

Throw a set of slicks on it! You're obviously not trying hard enough to break something if the head gasket is still holding with that much boost :D . Are you building any boost at the line? Lighting the turbo and slippage in the tranny might be holding you back, too. Seems like the truck should be faster than that.

Is this a 5 speed truck? I thought it was 4x4, if so launch in 4x4.

Slicks? Thats $$ . I wonder what a set of slicks and wheels for them would set me back?? Although I don't think the tranny would like the new found traction  . I really need to upgrade the tranny in some way. Yes it's my 91.5 auto 2wd truck stock 518, can't feel any shifts down the track  . I tried a 5-10psi boosted launch and I just roasted the tires, went sideways a hair, got out of it, back in it, lit the tires up again, when I finally got hooked, it ran a 10.30 something 77mph.

My best time was when I just got off the brake and floored it. The slight lag from the 52 is all that held me back from lighting the tires. It lights fast though, much better than when it was on the 89 5 speed. Oh and clean running down the track :x . Big blast of smoke until probly the 60ft mark, then the 52 slams 60psi and just a slight haze down the track. Who needs afc when you got all the air you need lol. I also need to get the big fuel line hooked back up, and stick the bulkhead in the bottom. I've been running the stock fuel lines because at 15 gallons I start sucking air..... I've got the pickup in the sender  . I don't have something right. I'll either move it out of the sender, or stick it in the bottom.

I bet your sucking the plastic sleeve dry. Try moving it out, I bet it will make a big difference.

You're going to IRP, right? I bet you could find somebody there with a used set of slicks they'd be willing to sell. Then some sheetmetal screws and a set of steel rims and you'd be set. A set of traction bars to get rid of the wheel hop induced by the slicks and I bet you would see big reductions in your times on the track. But it's your money, not mine  . You need to talk to c12h26 (I think that's his name on here), he has a fairly quick 2wd IIRC.

Nice! low 9s aint bad, I have to get to the track to see if I can beat ya  my 9.66 was with 264rwhp, now I have 300. Also if you want cheap traction, you can usually find a set of dirt track tires for cheap...

My pass was

.000 RT (really--1st perfect light ever)
60 ft 2.24 (dirt track slicks, no posi, 5psi launch)
1/8th mile et 9.66
1/8th mile mph 73.1mph

Yeah and since then I haven't been able to make it back to the track. For the most part we have a 'Friday Fun Night' every Friday at 5pm-10pm. $15 race all night, run what ya brung, riding mower if you please. But since then it's either rained or there was an event going on down there to where there was no Fun Night. I swear in June it rained EVERY Friday   . I was about to go tonight, but the County Fair is goin on  so no racing.

Changes since, I've put the bulkhead fitting in the bottom of the tank, 1/2" hose to the piston lift pump. Eliminated the fuel heater. Then I'm gonna bump the timing before the next race a hair. That should definately eliminate the headgasket for sure  .

On the slicks, I have someone that said I could try out a set of 16" slicks, I just need at least a 8" wide preferable a 10" wide wheel to mount them on. Anyone close wanna loan me two 16x10's? :D
