Passing tech with no emergency brake?

Postby Begle1 » Mon Sep 01, 2008 7:46 pm

Has anybody ever had their emergency brake checked when going through tech inspection at the drags?

Does anybody know if the rules stipulate an emergency brake?

Because I just snapped an e-brake cable, and it was only a couple years old too... And if I go to disks, it's a lot easier to go to disks without emergency brake provisions.

tech at my local strip consists of seeing if there is enough windows to write your number on. i think they mainly check for safety issues, such as battery hold downs, throttle return springs, extended lug studs if you're on slicks, etc. i doubt they will care if your ebrake works or not, especially with an auto.

i've dragged multiple vehicles and they have never checked the e brake. its not mandatory. theres no point to have a e brake on a track unless your drifting or something.

those are at least all legitimate things to not pass. serioulsy 2 lug nuts? and driving it on the road even still? nuetral safety is just so u dont bump it over in the lanes and hit someone.

I agree. All those things make sense. By the way his wheel came loose on the way home. When I went to diesel weekend at my local track he looked under the truck for leaks and to make sure nothing was falling out. He looked under the hood for overflow tank and other obvious issues. Took him about 45 seconds to a minute and I was all set.

here in texas, if it can get to the track it can go 1/4 mile further. the inspection is small to just writing on the window as you drive by. They failed me because I had no turn down or up pipe.
