Who ya callin Rusty?? 8)

I actually have been kicking myself latley for buying a drag car when I have a perfectly good diesel truck to ruin. I think if someone took some time to four-link a first gen and add a short bed, glass front fenders and hood, lightweight wheels, etc. They chould get under 4500 pounds. At that rate 650 to the wheels would be mid to high 10s! I have some 33-inch tall slicks and a 14mm head I can throw on for this next season  THEN we'll see what she'll do.

Of course by the time I swap in the diesel, an overdrive tranny, and a dana 80 It would probably be tipping 6200lb with me in it. Then would come the issue of hooking a truck that nose heavy with that long a wheelbase and that much power. I bet it would be good for burnout contests!!! :P

my Ford 1 ton with me in it an a full load of fuel only weighs in at 5600 lbs

If I stripped out the rear tank, tailgate, bench seat, floor mats, and removed a bunch of stuff like the dual batteries under the hood etc - I think I could easily get down to <5000 lbs

might give that a try at Shannonville raceway this summer just to see what she will pull for et in the 1/8

hi all, race weight on my truck is abt 5850 with me. last dyno was 578. prob a little better than that at sac.[ new denny t pin ]. running 50-55 #s and never could keep from blowing boost hoses. just put a wastegate on and looking for abt 45#s. only got one run in on that 12.66 [blowing hoses!] could prob get it down some more. lost the hg tuning the wastegate. oh well, it was the original. 18 yrs isn't bad. have a new set of coal train injectors coming . should make a difference. see ya, tc

had a '78 std cab 440 1/2 ton 4x4 truck 727 203 that went 12.90

on the motor

in 1982

tank

ps - no, it was not with the '78 smog motor but the engine was nothin special: 1967 trw flat top closed chamber motor. ported it myself. small solid lifter cam. single 850 holley on top of a small plate unit. had some money in the tranny, converter, and transfer case tho

that truck paid my bills - all of em

: )

i miss those dayz

Ah..... reality check. Big power to weight ratio difference though!
I had a '77 Macho Power Wagon with a 360, used to street drag it in 4 low, and it was fast, until bark shifting all four tires (727 with a kit) exploded the drum!

Mine was Yellow and black, with orange stripes. If it had air I would still be driving it, getting 9MPG up or down hill!

My 74 3/4 ton 440/727/205 weighed 6040lbs on the same scales that RSWORDS 1st gen weighed 5500lbs. His pulled the sled waaayyyy better than mine though.
