Unlimited Modifieds are limited to 7500lbs, from there they can run any engine combination they want pretty much. The current modified champion runs 4 chevrolet based engines, and the former multi time champion whose tractor is no more ran 4 hemis at the end and prior to that ran 2 hemis and 2 chevys because the rules prohibited running 4 hemis. That was/is the grand national modified class, the unlimited mods were not that way, but run a VERY limited series. A guy from texas ran 1 dt466 IH diesel on alky with I think it was a hemi motor. He could only run those two engines because of the weight and It did decent but was not near the top of the class. Much like the old allisons and rolls royce motors they are cool but cant hang with the blower mountain motors.
