Went to the track last night

Postby gear jammer 91" » Sun May 10, 2009 8:59 am

I got some new 1/4 mile numbers last night. I wasn't running any methanol in the water/meth tank just water, and I was leaving soft in 2wd to keep from spinning. I beat a late 60's Buick, a 24 valve, and a common rail 8) . I also got my but handed to me on one pass, but I knew it was coming. I staged up next to source auto's 05 drag truck  , Rip was behing the wheel and put down a 11.9.

R/T - .327
60' - 2.52
1/8 - 9.98
MPH - 75.40
1/4 - 15.18
MPH - 92.6

Source Auto's Common Rail
R/T - .063
60 - 1.73
1/8 - 7.67
MPH - 90.61
1/4 - 11.95
MPH - 114.57

Nice run. Especially with rowing the gears. 8)

Try launching in 4WD to eliminate the tire spinning. 10psig boost at the line is a good number to start with.

Nice gearjammer, yeah id def say you would be around 14.6 or .7 if you left in 4wd at 10 lbs or so. I know when i ran 15.4 @ 86 my 60 ft was right around 2 flat, so you could pick up another .5 there easily. It's nice to have some decently fast 1st gens around. 8)

RT has nothing to do with your ET, I caught a mustang sleeping at the tree and beat him to the finish line but he still had a better time than me

I was so concerned with not frying the tires off that It hurt my R/T, at least that's my excuse. I'm too afraid of busting stuff to launch hard in 4wd also. My tranny has a little slop in it as it is. Those were the numbers from my best pass, my worst R/T was .419, 1/8th time was 10.53, and my worst 1/4 was 15.64. This was only my second time at the track so I'm still learning, I have figured out that my truck is faster when I shift around 3500RPM than it is when I shift around 3000RPM, and I roll through the traps at about 1400 degrees with about 35# of boost and the speedo is showing closer to 100MPH.

By the way, I don't think the brakes on our trucks were meant to stop these heavy beasts from 100MPH quickly.
