Anyone want to guess on 1/4 times

Postby Crossy's son » Wed Aug 05, 2009 9:11 pm

Going to the track next wed. take some guesses at 1/4 times. AT SEA LEVEL , one of the fastest tracks in the country

91 D250 non i/c stripper truck no options
727 auto 3.07 open rear, 235-85 tires

piston lift pump with "Cross" customs big line kit , big fleetguard filter
timing to the head
pin turned 90*, washer shaved 1/2, starwheel down 2 turns, smoke screw down 1.5, throttle adjusted full travel on inner ball, high idle screw is gone
straight pipe 3" exh.
air filter housing MIA (filter on end of hose)

nothing too crazy but like to get a mid 16 out of it.

the other 91 ran a 14.92 with no traction until 50ft mark. but that had a ground pin and power screw cranked in.

My dad is gonna let me sign the papers so the racetrack will let me run it, if they ask about me having a license then i'm caught, oh well.

the only other time i've driven anyting over 20mph was when i raced my dad's pinto at the track and it ran a 19.2 in the 1/4 mile....lol i got the whole staging thing down though after 3 passes, its kinda fun

hopefully c12h26 with the 12 second 1st gen on NOS will be there or boostedve in his dually so i can run them and have a good time

Why haven't you played with the fuel screw in this one? You could turn it up for a few trips down the strip. 8)

I'm waiting for the little thermocoupler probe to get here for the egt gauge. its a little probe with 6 inches of wire and 2 connectors and its taken a week to get here!!!!

i guess we could mess with it just for the track but if you've never tweaked a power screw on a non i/c truck, let me tell you its not easy. Theres no hex on the end like an i/c truck, just a flatblade and you gotta take the whole linkage assembly w/bracket off the side of the engine to get a screwdriver back there

if the probe is here by wed. i'll hook up the egt gauge and crank away [laugh] .. im going away to Carlisle truck nats till monday

The converter in this one feels alot tighter than the other truck, probably because this 91 has 200,000 less miles than the other!!!

I just loosen the lock-nut and turn it in with a pair of Vice-Grips. It's not like it's in there that tightly, so there's no need to booger the threads doing it, just put enough pressure to turn it.

The only thing I have to take off of my truck is the pilot line for the AFC.

when i had my 91.0, i had decent luck with one of those 90 degree screw drivers, the one with a phillips on one end and flat on the other. after a while it was worked enough i could use my fingers.

I pull the bracket anyways. It's only 3 bolts, why fight around it? ;)

Got all the way there (45 mins).. it was raining OVER the track but nowhere else, just looked overcast.

we wait around at the gate BS'ing with a MDDTR 2nd genner, all of a sudden, tracks open! (rain stopped)

they start drying the track and almost done drying, they're running the big drier down at this point and it starts POURING rain, told everyone to leave the premises asap and we went home.

had a fun ride home though, blastin next to a 2nd gen on the highway, we were stuck at 92mph and he was probably pushing upwards of 120 blowing smoke.

Basicly it got rained out.

lol. Next wednesday,
