What clutch should I get??

Postby SmokeScreen » Wed Sep 23, 2009 9:13 am

I need a new clutch before next puulin' season. Im not sure which one I should go with. I had a South Bend ordered in July and they gave me the run around for three weeks right in the middle of the season. So I would like to go with someone else if possible.
Valair maybe??

I got a southbend right before summer, and am very happy with it. I have had a couple questions though over the past few weeks and have left 3 messages with no return call yet. Was very pleased with Peter and southbend clutch, but this is a little aggrevating. Last time I did talk with them, Peter was on vacation, and they were swamped with orders. I think they are just super busy. I am very happy with the clutch though. I think Valair had a rough start getting into this business, but recently lots of guys have had good luck with them. (read on dtr in the 3rd gen forums) I hate doing stuff twice and SBC is known good stuff so I paid a little more for it than the valair. Also know Haisley is supposed to make good pulling clutches. What type of clutch are you looking for?

I recommended Kenny's pulling parts in Stanford Ky to Josh Ayers and I think he is very happy with his dual disk. The price is right and they work and that is what really matters at least to me.

I put a Valair ceramic good for 650 hp in my truck. I had to use the NV 5600 flywheel and a starter spacer, but it works great.
Valair had a few teething problems when they started, but I've heard lots of good things about them now. Just make sure you break it in however they say to. I did and it holds like a SOB! 8)

Just enough power to break everything behind the crankshaft.

I agree with Brian, Kenny's is the only way to go. My brother won't do business with anyone but Kenny, and loves his clutches in his 2.8 pulling truck.

Ford, I'll see if I can get his number from my brother for you.
