It's not too hard. Swap flywheel, I think the block plate, trans, crossmember, and shaft. You have to add the clutch pedal and the hydraulics too. Bad93cummins just did his truck. He has pics around here someplace.

There's a company called Advanced Adaptors that has a kit that makes it a piece of cake. All you have to do after that is move the hole for your shifter back about 4 inches.

With the nv4500 swapped in do you get less transfer case vibration? I have the Getrag and 205 now with new tranny mounts and everything is fresh but the t-case stick vibrates around 70? I am thinking of going with a DD and 4500 soon and was wondering if this would cure my problem?

I took a getrag out of 2 of mine and put in the nv4500. Its the best thing i ever did , You can use the 205 from a getrag the shaft is bigger than the one in an auto. You have to take the seal out of the back of the tranny and make sure you use the gasket between the two . The coupler will ride in oil then, No big deal, if you dont take out the seal the coupler will push it against the bearing. The overall length is longer but you can buy the kit from quad 4x4.com . Make sure you put the crossmember back in facing the right way, Its offset to one side Youll get a vibration if its in wrong. When you buy a clutch dont get sucked in to the bigger is better idea. I used a southbend in mine they feel better, valairs feel alittle soft. You need an advanced adapters bell housing, read the papework when it comes, you need to cut the bearing retainer. You just take the 4 bolts out and slide it off the front , I took mine to a shop and had it cut (the length is in the paperwork). The driveshafts should still fit with no problem.I hope this helps.

The easiest way is to buy a truck that has already been changed. Worked for me. :D

I use advanced adapter Getrag to NV4500 kit on my chevy conversion as well. I had the bearing retainer cut as said above and I am using a 1st gen Getrag flywheel and the OEM 1st gen Sachs clutch (Hard to fine but they are out there, or at least were). If you use the 2nd gen flywheel/clutch I think you can forgo cutting down the bearing retainer, but it is weaker unless you spend big bucks. I do not have any real miles on my Advanved adapters kit so I really cannot comment on the longevity but everything appears to be good quality and strong. The advantage to Using th AA kit was it allowed me to keep my original Engine plate/starter and use the strong 1st gen clutch. It also gave me just a tad bit more clearance at the bellhousing bolts which is critical for the chevy conversion I did but not of concern in this situation I assume. The only thing at all negative about this option is the slave cylinder. The AA bellhousing puts the slave in the same position as the 1st gen Dodge/Cummins which appears to be more susceptible to offroading hazzards, the 2nd gens appear to be better protected by the bellhousing because they mount from the rear instead of the front. It should be easy to make a protective steel skid plate around it when using the AA kit, but thought I would mention it in case you are a wild 4x4 guy. I used to be but am not now so not sure if I will even bother with it.

I agree with Richie, I have also heard Quad has quit making the swap kit. Mine was an A/A setup.
