Finally made it to the dragstrip

Postby peytonmaterne » Mon Aug 02, 2010 10:00 am

i was pretty happy, with what I have invested in the truck. This is my 84 shortbed with 90 model running gear. PODs, piston pump, denny-t 2, 2 turns on fuel screw, gds compressor upgrade, 727 and 3.07s with powertrax no-slip and 315/60/15 drag radials. 60 ft--2.0613, 330 ft--5.6593, 1/8 et--8.6842, 1/8 mph--80.93. Sorry no video, but it sure was fun. What will my next mod be???

Hey that's pretty good, probably about a high 13. Were you not getting traction or did you not launch very hard?

Thats real fast. On my 89 in 4 wheel drive and 297 horses on the dyno my best 1/8th mile was 9.25 and 72 mph. That was brake boosting 10 psi.

I'd get the 4200 spring, valvesprings, and a turbo. You'll want the extra revs at the end of a quarter mile pass. I'm also puttin a 90 drivetrain in a 82, hopefully next year, but plan to use a ford 9" with 2.60ish gears. Btw, nice numbers! 8)

Congrats on the time, sure beats the sthi outta my 10.3. :) I bet you even got to take home one of the white copies of the timeslip, didn't you.

I should warn you though, I just found an LA3 and a large VAM for the ranger, so competition might be getting a little faster around here.

Forgot to mention, I already have the 3200 spring in there. It pulls super hard. My friend went with me on the first pass and about pooped his pants. I still have more fuel screw to go, and I would like to try nitrous or water meth. I also need to shift some weight to the rear to help traction. Occasionally, it still wants to spin.

Can't beat nitrous from a bang for the buck standpoint! You should pick up an easy 75-100hp with a basic kit. Try to get at least .125 solenoids, -4 lines with a -3 end (NX sells them) and a .157 NX dry nozzle. Oh, and a bottle heater.
