getrag funny sounds

Postby mopowa » Sat Mar 24, 2018 9:45 pm

Was hoping someone may be able to shed a little light here.

Doesnt matter what gear, when driving if I put my clutch in and hold it a real horrible sound comes from the getrag, soon as let off the clutch it goes away. Doesnt matter what speed, forward or reverse, as soon as the clutch is in while in gear the sound starts going.

Am dropping tranny tomorrow to do the clutch and will get a better look at everything.

Any insight would be appreciated

Kinda sounds to me like your throwout bearing is bad on the clutch fork.

Got it out today, think the noise was a combination of a worn pilot bushing, worn throwout bearing as well as the shift fork that presses the throwout bearing was worn into the bearing ..block? that the fork rests on. Also the bearing in the clutch disc was worn. Interestingly enough the material on the clutch disc had lots of meat left, even though there is 420000kms on it.
