So with a manual valve body, say your going like 45mph then you slow down to 20 and leave it in drive, could you lug it back up to 45 in drive or would it downshift for you?

It won't shift unless you shift it.

Wire it to a switch and manually control it. Remember it's still an auto and you can burn it up still by lugging it to much.

oh ok, i was just wondering, im not going to be doing this, i have a 518 in my truck now thats junk. im swapping to a 5spd though

How do you hook up a floor shifter to the linkage for the trans?
1992 W350 flat bed. GlowShift Gauges, 3.54 gear, Full Power Screw bottomed, DennyT Pump Top Delete, 366 GSK, Custom CAI, Pro Comp fuel pump, DE 4'' Exhaust, 14cm Exhaust Housing, Getrag.

only use 3rd normally with my 82. 3.21 axle and it does real well for normal driving. when i get the od i will have to be careful with od dont think it will stand the torgue of the engine. i will have to remember turn it off when i stop. i only use the gears on the 3 speed when showing off.

have been running it in 3rd for about 7 years. had to pull it once because this dumb old man let it run low on fluid. they just dont live too long low on fluid. i have done burn outs that most people dont believe. 3rd gear only a measured 349 ft. 500 plus ft lbs of torgue will do more than most gassers will do in low gear. i have played with these transmissions since 1965. 3rd gear will handle more than most street tires will
