nv5600 lube

Got the new clutch in and had van haisleys tranny guy (Brian) put the synchros in the 6 speed, i had been using penzoil synchromesh for some time as i had a leak and the amsoil, redline, and factory stuff was just to expensive. Brian said the bearings and every thing but the synchros (they were bad from the get go) looked great so i filled her up with synchromesh, its only 7 or 8 bucks a quart. He also said put in an extra quart just like you do the getrgs so i did that also. Only problem in the whole job was forgot to fill the new slave cylinder with fluid before install, had a hell of a time bleeding it out.

i wouldn't be afraid to tackle one if i had the special tools, there are a host of them for a 5600, mostly to press the bearings and gears off of the shafts, even the counter shaft isn't one piece. I have been in a lot of manual trannies over the years also. I did my getrag 360 for my jeep before i ever met bill or daniel

If you plan to work it, 1 quart overfull is not nearly enough.
More like 3 or 4 on that behemoth.

Personally, I like to see a "worked" manual tranny filled to within 1" of the mainshaft, give or take 1/2".
Then there's always the additional capacity you can add with PTO coolers/extensions.

Mark.
