as far as tools the biggest one is a press.....i have a 12 ton harbor freight press that does the job okay....gets alittle scary pressing the od apart and the sides are flexing....then i just took 3 peices of 1\4 thick by 1.5-2'' wide i think, and put the interm shaft in and then made it about 2 inches taller, then welded them together, works okay, when you press it back together i have to use a rubber hammer and smack the drum straight, but it works decent, thats the only special tool i have,
and then to press the front band piston apart i bolt the case to the bench and i used a short piece of pipe with a flat steel across it then use a big c clamp.
might have to fab up another peice to press the front drum apart, cousin gave me his dads press stuff for the front drum when he passed away, so i didn't have to buy any of that.
