my 2wd truck has a 727 and 3.07 rear end and the thing is screaming just to do 60 im trying to decide if i should try and find a higher geared rear end(i dont even know if they make one) or put a gv under overdrive in or do a trans swap???????????????????

What size tires are you running? Are you sure its still 3.07 geared and sure the trans isn't staying In 2nd? My 89 powered Chevy would run 97 before it ran out of rpm and cruise at 70 no problem. That was with 235/85/16 tires.

Well 3.07 is as high as was ever made and no longer available. Do you have a tach in the truck? Only other thing i can think of is a weak trans with a wore out stock converter that isn't putting the power down just letting the motor scream.

Hows the fluid look in it? If its still red and no metal in it you could throw in a shift kit, adjust the bands and a more efficient converter. Like i said with a fresh stock 727 i could cruise 70 all day and top out at 97 in a 7000pound crew cab chevy.

It will make a lot of racket at 60 even if everything is working right. I briefly had an overdrive transmission in my truck and the noise reduction was amazing.

For what it's worth, I have 250k+ on mine and the original owner doesn't recall ever having transmission work done to it. He and I have pulled goosenecks loaded a tad heavy a time to two

I'm running a Specrite converter. Along with a Patc rebuild kit. I added some extra stuff to the rebuild kit and it brought the price up to $700. Before that it was at around $500. The converter will add another $700 at least.

Buy a good convertor from specrite, goerend or suncoast.
