Yeah, if you leave them idling then it should still sling fluid and lube stuff up, but it'd be quite the waste of fuel. :lol:

I'd pull the rear DS just for safety's sake. Since it's not a slip yoke it's not like it's any big deal. I'm not sure how the internals of a transfer case work though, so it may be a viable option to tow them in neutral.

Id still pull the DS. (once again)

You don't have to pull the d-shaft in a 4wd truck.
Just put the tranny in P, and the t-case in N, and disengage the hubs.

With the tranny in P, the output shaft can't rotate
And with the hubs disengaged you don't get any binding when towing on a hard surface
( For some reason the t-case connects front and rear output, when in N)
