Converting to single rear wheels

Postby bubba » Mon Jan 14, 2013 12:55 am

Hey guys how hard is it to convert to single rear wheels? Can the spacers on the front axle just be removed and a tire mounted? I'm not really worried about the rear being a little wider... Flatbed

You will need new hubs on the front, and might as well swap in a SRW rear axle, like a Dana 80. Otherwise it's gonna look pretty darn goofy with the ass end all wide and a skinny front  but to each thier own ;)

How much wider is mine than a SRW? And what about outboard shafts on the front axle? Because I just replaced mine with new ones...

I'm in GA but I don't really want to swap axles because my current D70 has a locker in it

It's probably a pipe dream anyway... The wife is screamin for me to sell it and get a new truck "that we don't have to keep spending money on..." I told her payments come every month on new trucks but I guess thats woman logic for ya...

That sounds like Jeffs wife a few years ago. Now she likes his truck. I'm not sure if it's because of the happy pills he spikes her coffee with or she got a dose of reality. ;)

Both! I found the secret is to buy the one she likes, no matter what you think of it. Happy wife, happy life. Most of the time anyway....

I keep trying to tell her that lie that I'll be done spending money on it one day lol Its a lot better than when I got it. The front tires aren't looking at each other, it doesn't leak gallons of fuel everytime you drive it, the four wheel drive works now, and its even got some brakes now. Boy that was a scary ride home, diesel fuel pouring out of the injector pump, push and pray brakes where the pray part was you praying for the reason you were stopping to move :grrr:

Rumblefish: Do I spy an SRT-4 as your pic? And where can I find these happy pills? I'd rather buy them online than from the shady guy in the ghetto. :shaking2:
