2wd getrag to NV4500 info...pics?

Postby thrashingcows » Sat Jan 19, 2013 1:48 pm

I'm trying to get a proper tranny mount in the crewcab. I just bought a 2wd cummins cross member and mount from a 93 truck...but the tranny mount is not the one I thought it would be. I assumed that 2wd auto, and 2wd getrag, would share the same tranny mount. The mount that goes from the tranny to the cross member.

When I bought the crewcab someone had already slammed the cummins/NV4500 into the truck. They used hunks of channel for all the mounts. I want to put things back to as close to stock as possible. I am hoping the getrag 2wd mount will allow me to mount the NV4500 on the original 1st gen cross member.

Anyone who has done the NV4500 upgrade in their 2wd truck could you please tell me what you did for a tranny mount and cross member? And pics would be great as well.

Here is a couple pics of what I have, and what I think I'm looking for.

And the 2wd Getrag mount??

If anyone has a 2wd getrag mount I would be very interested in purchasing it!

The last set of pics (the mount in question) sure look like a 2wd 727 mount. It wouldn't suprise me if auto and Getrag mounts were the same though. Dodge would do anything to save a nickel.

The first 3 pics are of the mount and cross member I just bought. Out of a 93 2wd auto truck. The bottom two are of the mount that was on E-bay a while back.

I found the old listing for that E-bay mount...it was from a 91 Cummins D350 dually with a 3 speed auto...so from a 727...not 518. This would be shy the difference I think.

Can someone with a 2wd Getrag truck snap a pic of the cross member and tranny mount?

when I did an auto to manual swap in my mom's 92 2wd, and in my 93 4x4, the auto and manual cross members were the same.

Don't know if this helps, but here is how AA shows to set it up.

Okay, Okay!
I'll get pics of what you need, Cow.

FYI, I had gone and started off on my Big Trip, as we were discussing this and I just haven't dug the pieces up, yet.
A while back I was in the middle of a really good write up on cross member and mount differences and the computer crashed on me, so I never tried to write it up again.

I think I came across your thread you started about that Mark...too bad it would really have come in handy.

I have tried the AA conversion...the GM mount sits too low in the cross member...it actually sits below the lip of the cross member and therefore would hit the tranny. That mount would work fine...but needs to be about an inch taller.
