No ECM - Can I control OD with pot?

Postby Higbean » Wed Jan 30, 2013 9:20 am

I yanked my ECM out of my swap as soon as I finished at the referee. I have been controlling the OD with a switch and I'm tired of it. A518 out a 93. I did the pressure switch thing and it shifts into OD at 20 mph. I'd like to wire up a potentiometer like guys do to get around the TPS but I'm not really sure if it can be done without the ECM controlling things. Any suggestions or ideas would be great.

As I understand it, the pot only works with the ecm. A potentiometer is basically an adjustable resistor. It takes the supply from the ecm and turns it into a signal that tells the ecm when to shift into OD. Without the ecm you'll have to do a pressure switch.

Yup pressure switches or put the ecm back in...or keep running it on a switch.
