OD issues

Postby coolhand_luke » Wed Mar 27, 2013 9:12 pm

Hey guys I have been experiencing some transmission issues. In the morning on the way to work, before the truck is all the way warmed up, the tranny will shift in and out of OD while going highway speeds. it does it 5 or 6 quick times in a 10 or so seconds and thats it. The tranny is also shifting late too at all times. Thanks for any help

As far as the O/D issue, check the TPS, if it still has one.
If it does, do the POT conversion.

You may also want to check the adjustment on the TV cable for the late shifting.

So the tps could be going bad? I'm not familiar with the pot conversion.

It's called a potentiometer, actually.
It replaces the TPS with a dash-mounted knob that you can set to your liking, rather than depend on the TPS, which can be really spendy to replace.

I think there's a couple of write-ups over on DTR for the POT conversion.

If you don't have cruise control, it's the only cable on the throttle bracket. Otherwise, the TV cable goes down to the driver's side of the transmission.

You can replace the tps with a cheaper replacement so you dont have to add a pot. Someone posted a different mopar sensor that works.

Could also be the temp sensor in the tranny line.
