The 48RE I'm pretty sure fits right on it and adds 2 qts. Or is it the 47RH?

I pulled my pan tonight. I am saving money and following your and David's build threads.

I don't think it's the 47RH. Chrysler claims the 46/47/RH/RE have "deep" pans but that's just because they have a lower VB.

If you're tearing it all the way down, give me your email address. I have an Excel file with part numbers and prices.

Update: I still don't have my driveshaft, but my driveshaft guy is so good and cheap I can't complain. I have not fixed the solenoid either, but warmer weather is coming tomorrow.

I had the nuts to take it up to 65 today on the way home from work and the vibration isn't any worse than at 45. The acceleration characteristics and the drop in cruising rpms are still amazing.

Is 30 hp too much to hope for when comparing a worn 270k mile stock trans with ballooned converter to a mild performance trans? I'd be happy to crack 300 hp and still put 100+ hp on the intake, exhaust, and tuner 7.3Ls and 6.0Ls. Maybe power is a lofty goal, but I hope to get my torque more inline with 2-2.5:1 when compared to power.

I allowed myself to get crapped on twice today. First at 730 am, I stroked a check for $380 in exchange for a driveshaft. 2 hours of work, $30 per u-joint, and $40 per yoke...pppppfffffttttt

12 hours later I discovered that I shot myself in the foot a month ago by not checking my internal O/D wiring while the VB was out. Both of my solenoids pop and show about 30 ohms. (Two different solenoid set ups.) My external pig tail shows near-zero resistance and my spare internal harness shows the same. In the original set up, I have 12 volts to the plug on the outside and near none to the terminals inside. It has to be the internal harness. The VB is coming out tomorrow afternoon.

I did unstick my AFC and run around some. The rebuild was worth it. 8) It holds power and loads the engine like it should.

Some more notes... I had a bolt in my TV cable slot with my old 727 to shim it some. With the shift kit, this created a bind. I couldn't get full throttle, but the shifts were great. I removed the bolt and could get full throttle, but the shifts weren't as good. I'll have to mess with it some more and find the sweet spot.

Last time I messed with my trans I pulled the drain plug and let it drip for a few hours. That got most of it but not all.

Well you see, us shade tree mechanics don't have lifts to put our trucks on. I have to work off to the side. I can't get directly under it.

TV cable monkey business: Originally I had pan head bolt in the TV cable slot and the cable adjusted all the way up. That caused a bind. Today I had the same bolt in with the cable backed up. No bind and early soft shifts. Now I have a regular hex head bolt in the slot and the cable all the way up. It gets full throttle in the driveway.

We shall see how it shifts tomorrow. If it doesn't work, I'll loosen it up inside when I have the VB out later this week.

Just driving impressions-

-I did get my TV cable sorted out, along with the sudden neutral syndrome. Both were in part due to the loose bracket on the trans bell housing.
-My welding is not nearly as good as I thought it was because now I have a drip coming from my plug. I'm not going to spring for a deep pan any time soon as my current play money is tied up in a driveshaft and a spare HX35 right now.
-My water does not heat up nearly as fast now, so I guess that stock converter was really dumping the heat into the system.

Still quite happy with all of it. I do wonder what it will do on the dyno. All that I've changed in the past year is this trans and 4" exhaust.

I usually braze on a 1/2" nut and use a nylon washer on the bolt for a seal.

Been driving it some and I'm about to take it on a 6 hour round trip. The potential of speeding is unreal since I'm used to gauging speed mostly by engine noise

Still really happy with everything. I did tighten up my line pressure some yesterday, despite having a different set of springs in there from the shift kit.

I'm about to let it shine on the interstate. I have my tin to the wind!
