Ha! I asked the guy if I should count splines and he didn't know. Oh well, at least that knocks the price down a bit. :)

Indeed I have the later intermediate already.

How does one determine if one has the late or early O/D case. The bushing kits are different.

I'll call A&A when I have time. Or maybe txs if his number hasn't changed.

I have a list of parts ready and I know it's good for a basic rebuild. Give me your email address and I'll send it.

Tax return filed. I'll order parts tomorrow if I remember.

I'm getting excited. The Cliff's notes so far is I'm going to rebuild it, tune the VB without a shift kit, and run my Suncoast Converter. I can't wait to have O/D again.

Do the shift kit, you'll regret it if you don't. It cuts slippage on the shift and bumps line pressures so it locks and holds better.

Ha! It's easy to spend someone else's money isn't it?

I'll have to place some calls to see what's recommended. I don't want to open another can of worms by applying more pressure to stuff.

I'm with Pete, and you won't hurt a thing by putting it in. it doesn't give you hard neck jerking shifts,it only tightens them up. The adjustment to line pressure is what's going to start making things rough.

Yea, but I like it rough

I want to delay the shifts too. Specifically I want 2nd gear to last longer. I'll make the time to call around sometime.

iirc, the inner gov weight is the 2-3 shift controller, if you got triple beams or one of the little digital scales, you could lighten it up yourself, I'd call a&a and ask how much to take off, I know rick knows what he's doin, rumor has it the engineers at ktp talked with him in the initial stages of the 48re upgrade program.

Caleb and Dave, the spline count stayed the same on the front carrier spline on the intermediate shaft, it's the spline tooth pitch (the angle of the sides of the tooth) that changed. It has changed twice, for 76 they changed it, course that was 727s then. then it changed again for 94 MY. most 518s for diesel app had 5 gear front carrier but they were aluminum. 47 got steel carrier.
