All I did to pull mine out, was get a drill and 2 drywall screws and a Vise-Grips. Used a screw driver through the gap in the jaws and up against the end of the crank. Slid right out.
I didn't have an installer, but I used my finger to help ease the edge of the lip over the crank, as I slowly rotated it onto the crank. Have a cheapie seal driver kit, and used one of the drivers ends, on its side, and gently tapped the seal in as I worked around.
