Yeah that stuff is good but I don't put it in the trans I build, not the newer stuff. It seems to cause some shifting complaints from my customers, some don't like quick firm shifts from their z71s or bubble blower ford trucks. The stuff to used is called lube guard, its nothing but extra slick'em,works great too.

I used Lucas in about every thing I own, motor trans rearend,it all gets it

we run lube guard in our transmissions, from 518's\gas\diesels to 47s in my cousins 99 with straight dex3 or hyd. fluid. and we haven't had any issues yet....My uncle even ran 5w30 full synthetic engine oil in a 518 in a Dakota just to see how it would work...it worked but I don't remember how well lol.

The lube guard is great for certain purposes... we use it at work for example if we do an acura or something and the stuff in the barrel does not cover that application, they have a additive for that. But its not thick at all.

I am happy with the way mine shifts with the THF in it. But the THF is still only a 10w20 i would like to get it a little thicker.

Slow,

Try a bottle of the Lucas. It is super thick so I usually put it directly in the pan at fluid change. If you're just gonna suck out a quart and add it then try and prop the bottle with some wire so it slowly drips fully out of the bottle down the dipstick tube. In my humble opinion, no Chrysler 727 based transmission should go without the Lucas.

I will try it when I change the spin on filter next time... That will loose enough oil to make up the difference

If you are running a aftermarket convertoe make sure and talk to the builder before running hydraulic oil. It will burn some tight converters up is what I was just told.

Mines pretty much a stock replacement... its just a little lower stall than stock. I wouldnt call it tight by any stretch of the imagination. For the $200 i couldnt beat the price

That lucas is super thick, gotta have a half hour to spare to get it down a dipstick tube.

Yeah I've used the oil stabilizer so I know how thick it is. Almost wonder if it's the same stuff in the transmission bottle just with red dye? And a higher price for less. I tried their power steering fix and it was thick and red I thought it might be the same as the tranny fix in an even smaller bottle.

When I put stp in the oil I usually get 2 bottles and just nuke them for a minute or so. But idk if the Lucas bottle will fit in the microwave

What burns up? Mine's pretty tight (custom Suncoast unit), . . . . and I've beat the crap out of it at the dragstrip, 20~25psi boosted launches, etc. . . . . and then drove to the beach and back. I'm running some off-the-shelf Tractor Supply fluid and a little ATF4 so as to include a little of the suppliments.

I believe its a bigger issue with the lockup convertors. I've done some searching and two companies have reported lockup clutch failure in converters that had used hydraulic fluid. I'm not 100% sure what its doing but o have a few emails out just waiting on reply.

Ah! I can see where it might be an issue with the lock-up converters.

Now i am really watching this thread. How would it be harder on a lock up converter?
